FASHION SHOWCASE : GUIDO. A PETTY CROOK PT. 1

Guido. A petty crook from Fort Lauderdale. A misguided admirer of local mafiosos, he fashions himself after larger-than-life TV characters. Guido spends more time in front of the TV dreaming of ‘that Life’, than learning the rules of the streets and crafts of the trade. Never developing the work ethic or the favor of luck to realize his goals, Guido, a petty schemer, only has the taste to look the part. If fortune favors the bold then…

A.F. VANDEVORST SS19

An homage to wedding dressing, A.F. Vandevorst’s SS19 offering was a memorable offering. Personally most taken with the use of multiple lace applications on certain pieces. Upon further research, A.F. Vandevorst’s runway centered around, “ten unique pieces extracted from vintage wedding dresses and tuxedos in an array of ivory and white. Some contrasted with razor black. For the new generation: this collection of wedding couture is repurposed, repositioned, reassembled.” (A.F. Vandevorst)

Thoroughly modern with surprising street elements like bicycle shorts and a stylish gimp/wrestling mask seen on various looks! Dope!

BOLD NEW WORLD. FABRIC MARKET

#ComeWithMe to a #BoldNewWorld. For our third adventure, host Hiu Wing, and SPITGAN Magazine would like to shine some light on the old district of Sham Shui Po. Home to many industries, we would like to spotlight its history as a fashion district, specifically a fabric sourcing area first. In these streets you will find everything you need for garment construction. It is such a grand story with so many characters, we want to focus on the, “欽州街小販市場 Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar“. This particular market has been around for 40+ years. It’s fabrics are mostly deadstock and run-offs from mills. Visually the exterior is protected from the elements by weather-worn tarps, but the interior is a chaotic labyrinth of fabrics stacked floor to ceiling. It’s claustrophobic and awe-inspiring at the same time. This is the equivalent to a record-digger finding a warehouse full of vinyl. It would take you days, even weeks to sort through this place.

“For me, I like walking around the Prince Edward flower market when I m free. To smell the fresh flowers, thinking which ones to buy and take home. There are so many options here to enliven the environment you live in! I enjoy roaming slowly through the stalls, browsing the wares and letting the freshness spirit away my imagination.
