It is true! Fashion is ahead of the curve. These looks from Comme De Garçons look like would fall right in with stylish women today, only that they were created in 1992! Titled, “Unfinished”, Rei Kawakubo’s collection was 144 pieces strong! Predominantly white, what really stood out were these fantastic patterned pieces and accessories. Chinese and Tibetan prints, checks, stripes etc, all mish-mashed together to stunning effect. Look at these amazing photos from John Galliano’s seminal collection by Guy Marineau. The back story to this collection is in eary 1994, John Galliano was sleeping on the floor of a friend’s flat. From this low point, with the help of new backers and other talented friends, Stephen Jones, Amanda Harlech, and hostess Sao Schlumberger, he created this defining collection of his career. A majestic fusion of Japanese kimonos and 1940’s tailoring. The comeback kid!

In the thematic vein his first collection, “Highland Rape”, Alexander McQueen’s FW2006 was a spectacle of showmanship and design prowess. Tracing his Scottish roots, this romantic McQueen referenced the fantasies of Scottish tales, castles, tapestries, and it’s moody landscapes. Impressive head dresses, likely from friend Philip Treacy, were like fantastic hunting trophies mounted on the models. The finale of the show closed with a ethereal hologram of Kate Moss to awe striking effect. A true fashion experience! Can we have more of this in the future. To originality!
