An exploration into “how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear”. This year’s Costume Institute, spring 2016 exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, presents 150 ensembles dating from the early 20th Century to visually represent the progression. TOUR DE FORCE! Thats going to be a section name from now on. Dammmmn. Don’t Raf Simon got the game on smash right now? This far and away was THE SHOW, at Haute Couture FW13. The outfits just keep coming and coming. Search the photos and see all the exquisite details, from the fabric manipulations to the bracelets and accessories. This was just a criminal beatdown. Was this the Kendrick Lamar ‘Control’ verse of Haute Couture FW13? Seeing the whole presentation put together too really kicks in another dimension to the experience. With the pyramid seating for the press and the square catwalk with floor to ceiling graphics?! Bananas. Oh and Plastikman, ‘Ping Pong’ for the soundtrack. Carry them out in stretchers.
