These past few days, 21 Savage has been through ‘A LOT’ to say the least. On his record ‘A Lot’ Savage teams up with J. Cole to deliver a reflective track (produced by J. White Did it & DJ Dahi) which he has paired with remarkable visuals. First things first, we absolutely MUST acknowledge the skill in the production of this track. The producers have tastefully paired drums with a sample from East Underground’s ‘I Love you’.
Savage reflects on his past, from the hardships of growing up in Atlanta to the pain of losing numerous friends and suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. He later (in the extended version) speaks of current events such as the water crisis in Flint, Michigan and the mistreatment of migrants at the US-Mexico border.
One of the highlights of this track is definitely J. Cole’s appearance [and homeboy had A LOT to say]. Cole spoke of the current state of the music industry (I personally found the faking streams phenomena quite intriguing), his career and current names both in hip hop and basketball.
