中國公民要入大學，必須經歷〝高考〞。每年 6月7、8日便是全國統一考試，當中包括必考中文、英文和數學，還有文科綜合／理科綜合（這兩個綜合科目應用最廣；根據學生的意願來選擇一個考試科目）。現在政府也改革了，2015年起消除體育和藝術加分科目，並鼓勵中西方國家的學生來報〝高考〞。
Every Chinese citizen who wants to go to university must take the ‘gaokao’. A two-day national exam that comprises of 4 parts, Chinese, English, mathematics, and a broader fourth one, of social sciences or science depending on the stream the pupil entered. Now reforms are being considered by the government, including an end to special admission based on sports or arts merit by 2015, and admitting more pupils from the central and western areas of the country.
