真/CURIOSO : ANGANWADI

Anganwadi workers, an estimated 2.8 million all-woman workforce, branded as “honorary workers” by the Indian government, runs the 1.4 million pre-school centers as part of India’s integrated child development scheme, which began in 1975. Their jobs not only included teaching the children, they also administer life-saving polio vaccines, document voter ID’s and even distribute pre-mixed feed to pregnant women to prevent maternal death and malnutrition. The anganwadi workers are seen as one of the country’s most faithful and committed public servant positions.
