YOHJI YAMAMOTO MEN’S 2019 HAIR AND MAKEUP

The hair and makeup for Yohji Yamamoto SS19 men’s collection was a dirty mess. Lookin’ like some bums on the street maybe? A coal-miner coming back from a days grind? Down with it. We ain’t afraid of a bit of dirt under our nails here at SPITGAN at all!

A LOT. 21 SAVAGE FT. J.COLE.

Written by Tina Rateau (@blue_spiritu)

These past few days, 21 Savage has been through ‘A LOT’ to say the least. On his record ‘A Lot’ Savage teams up with J. Cole to deliver a reflective track (produced by J. White Did it & DJ Dahi) which he has paired with remarkable visuals. First things first, we absolutely MUST acknowledge the skill in the production of this track. The producers have tastefully paired drums with a sample from East Underground’s ‘I Love you’.

Savage reflects on his past, from the hardships of growing up in Atlanta to the pain of losing numerous friends and suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. He later (in the extended version) speaks of current events such as the water crisis in Flint, Michigan and the mistreatment of migrants at the US-Mexico border.

One of the highlights of this track is definitely J. Cole’s appearance [and homeboy had A LOT to say]. Cole spoke of the current state of the music industry (I personally found the faking streams phenomena quite intriguing), his career and current names both in hip hop and basketball.

OCTAVIAN FT. MICHAEL PHANTOM, BET

Yooo if you need a new banger to turn up to in your car, in the club OR at the pre-grame, I gotchu. Check out Bet by Octavian (@octavianessie) featuring Michael Phantom (@michaelphantom)! The South-East London rapper spits some aggressive bars on a [FIIIIRREEE] track produced by King Payday. I just have one request for Octavian. Next time you make a track like this, can it please be more than 2 minutes long? Thanks.

CARDI B GRAMMYS 2019

By @Blue Spiritu

A trip down haute couture memory lane with Cardi B! If you didn’t know about the 1995 Mugler Couture collection, you do now! The House of Thierry Mugler opened its’ archives to Cardi B and she chose some of the best. Starting with her red carpet look (which I’m sure you’ve heard of by now), the Venus crinoline sheath gown. If that didn’t take you back to your art history/ humanities class in high school, I don’t know what will. Definitely some Botticelli ‘Birth of Venus’ vibes here.

Cardi then gave us theatrics with her ‘Money’ performance. Coming with a purple cape and crystal embroidered tiger-print jumpsuit piece, she looked like a badass character from an opera act. Later in the performance, Cardi switched it up to an enormous skirt made with peacock feathers. This skirt may or may not allude to her famous peacock tattoo on her thigh. Then to top it all, Cardi’s acceptance speech dress was a vintage dream filled with fringes, and more fringes. Shout out to Cardi B for making history both in fashion and in music. Grammys night was definitely a win for her in every possible way. Check out all her outfits below!
