Full disclosure: even though I lived in New York backintheday (‘98/’99) and even played ball in the streets of New York, up until this July I’d never actually watched a basketball game in New York. The Knicks? First off, I hate ’em. I hated them in the Patrick Ewing/John Starks era, rooted (briefly) for them as an underdog in the short-lived Sprewell era and they’ve been pretty much irrelevant ever since.*
* Yeah, yeah, Carmelo. As for Brooklyn – the Nyets? Seriously? Maybe this year; maybe…

提起紐約，或者當年的hip hop風光不再，但紐約街頭籃球的王者霸氣至今依然未減。
利申：雖然我在紐約住過一會兒（1998－1999），又打過一陣街頭籃球，但是我其實沒有真正看過一場籃球賽。你想應該有看過the Knicks吧? 不要開玩笑，我討厭這支球隊，除了因為它的影響力小之外*，我也討厭Patrick Ewing/John Starks擔正的年代，我只算是勉強支持過苟延殘喘的Sprewell年代，就這麼多而已。
*我知道，我知道有Carmelo。所以你說要去看布魯克林the Nyets?你還在開玩笑嗎？好吧，或許今年去，又或者…不會。
總之，雖然我住的紐約有Rucker和其他數不盡的街頭籃球聯賽（例如：布魯克林的Soul in the Hole, 西四街的The Cage, 因伍德的Dyckman），但是我從來沒有見識過為人津津樂道的熱血街場比賽。於是在上個週末，我決定是時候要去長見識了。
我本來打算去哈林的Rucker Park, 可惜來得不是時候，沒有碰上比賽－－誰都想免掉查找聯賽比賽場次的功夫啊。不過也沒關係，我轉去有著街籃傳奇Bobbito Garcia的Dyckman街籃聯賽，剛好碰上了星期五晚上演的兩場高中比賽，分別是：L-Pac 對 Mookie’s All Stars, 以及Team Dyckman對10th Avenue。

Paul Mittleman是Adidas Original的全球設計總監，在還未加盟Adidas之前，他在Stussy工作了二十個年頭。來自紐約的他，見證了從1980年代開始運動品牌影響街頭文化，及到今日又怎樣影響著高級時裝的歲月，他可說是collaboration(品牌與品牌之間的計劃)的先鋒，在街牌界中有著一定的影響力。早前他去到上海出席當地的一個大型街頭品牌活動， 我們籍著這個機會與他做了一個訪問。
Street Cred? All hail. Paul Mittleman hasn’t just been holding down the spot for streetwear; he might have damn near pioneered the genre. Paul goes back to the early days of Stussy. One of the first recruits to the legendary brand that birthed so many others. The native New Yorker has moved on up, and sideways, and now sits with the illustrious title of, ‘Global Design Director’, for the behemoth that is Adidas. Adidas Originals to be exact. So you know they’ve tapped him for his savvy in the game. We had a chance to sit down with the self-proclaimed, ‘inventor of the collaboration’, himself, and go through a bit of streetwear anthology with a fella that was involved with it from the giddy-up.

來自美國維珍尼亞洲的超級巨星Pharell Williams，早在兒時便與好友Chad Hugo組成樂隊Neptunes，同時又與另一友人Shay Harley組成另一個組合N.E.R.D.，在1990年代出道時已開始引人注目。出道至今日，他已涉足至時裝、藝術、影視界，今年甚至變身成作家，與著名出版社Rizzoli推出名為《Places & Spaces I’ve Been》的書籍，誓要在出版界大展拳腳。我們與 Skateboard P（Williams的別名）做了一次專訪。
You don’t recognize this man? That rock your under must be comfortable, dark, and soundproof. Pharrell Williams mofo! His proficiency in producing the hits is perhaps only surpassed by his prolific output. I don’t have enough appendages to list of what he has done, and done successfully. Just to let you know we were able to sit down and chat with him as he was in Hong Kong to promote his book, ‘Places and Spaces I’ve Been’, from publisher, Rizzoli.

SPITGAN – Pharell你有其他較少人知道的別名嗎？
PHARRELL – Golden Bones、Megatron。
SG – 好，我們就由Nothing開始說起。(Nothing 是N.E.R.D.近期的音樂大牒)
P – Yes sir。這張大牒當中有3首歌其實我是頗討厭的，因為我覺得像是被置在一個主要音樂廠牌經常遇到的局面──電臺的人總想找一些適合在電臺播放的歌曲。但N.E.R.D.從來不是一個會配合電臺的樂隊，我們大部分時間都是在一些音樂節或現場演出。這是一張為樂迷度身訂做，而不是去配合電臺而妥協、變得商業化的大牒。除了那3首歌，當中有很多歌曲，像《Inside the Clouds》、《Help ME》、《God Blessed Us All》、《Life As A Fish》我都十分喜歡。
SG – 他們把你迫得很緊嗎？
P – 也不是，但已經令這張大牒留下一些污點。我仍覺得那是一張很具水準的大牒。特別是《Like a Fish》，當中可以看到你們的大躍進。我們知道所有事物都是一個迴圈。這是Hippies回歸的日子，是時候去表達自我。我們看到這個日子的來臨，對於能夠成為首幾個提倡者我感到十分驕傲。
SG – 你為Neptunes創作的第一首歌曲是什麼？
P – 與Blackstreet及Teddy Riley合作的《Tonight’s the Night》，那是我們的第一首佳作。
