MODEL ALERT : HYUN JI-SHIN

Natural beauty Hyun Ji Shin was one of the fantasy cases of a fast rising star. She was a winner in 2016’s Korea’s Next Top Model when she was 18, and today at 20, she’s already walked many big brand runways including Chanel, Sonia Rykiel, Dries van Noten, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, Prada and Marc Jacobs. But really, it’s no surprise; she has perfect skin, a unique yet proportionate and pretty face, she’s tall, her hair is natural, like what the heck she’s just naturally beautiful. She has also already shot with the top photographers Alasdair McLellan, Harley Weir and Ben Hassett, and starred in campaigns for Benetton, Bobbi Brown and Calvin Klein.

Her real interest for modeling started when she was 15. “I was discovered when I was 15; my mother suggested that I should enrol in a modelling school to have a good posture and to have a career that all women dream of at least once in their lives. Being a model was once my mother’s dream as well.”

Hyun Ji Shin is another good example of a smart and kind model, that is not “white”. When Harper’s Bazaar asked her about her career alternatives, she responded “I would be an architect or a home designer. I have always been interested in home design since I was very young; I want my home to be efficient, unique, comfortable and fun to live in.” Creative and ambitious, isn’t she?

Just like any human being, she likes to be comfortable and is very chill. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, watching movies, shopping and spending time with family and friends. I am seeing a recurring pattern of “breaking down models’ stereotypes”, are you?
