BOLD NEW WORLD. FABRIC MARKET

#ComeWithMe to a #BoldNewWorld. For our third adventure, host Hiu Wing, and SPITGAN Magazine would like to shine some light on the old district of Sham Shui Po. Home to many industries, we would like to spotlight its history as a fashion district, specifically a fabric sourcing area first. In these streets you will find everything you need for garment construction. It is such a grand story with so many characters, we want to focus on the, “欽州街小販市場 Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar“. This particular market has been around for 40+ years. It’s fabrics are mostly deadstock and run-offs from mills. Visually the exterior is protected from the elements by weather-worn tarps, but the interior is a chaotic labyrinth of fabrics stacked floor to ceiling. It’s claustrophobic and awe-inspiring at the same time. This is the equivalent to a record-digger finding a warehouse full of vinyl. It would take you days, even weeks to sort through this place.
