We caught this track on the strength of FalconCrest being involved in the mix. Lord Juco’s name had a familiar ring already, having featured on Chong Wizard’s, The Power Stone EP. Ol’ Man 80zz? I swore Jordan C. had his production in a Top10EN, but it must have been his clever flip on the Zig Zag logo that got stuck in the mind! I digress.
To the matter at hand though, Lord Juco’s, ‘Bun Dem’ is a track that exemplifies a stylistic sound of Toronto. That Hip Hop inflected with a strong Caribbean/West Indies vibe. This banga is straight head nod with a minimal beat of 80% slap your skull up drums, and some sinister keys. Lord Juco sets it off callin’ an end to the fxckery he sees, ‘you hide like Anne Frank… put you in a hole like Hussein’. Big Falcon Outlaw fills throughout with his patois chant, and closes with a second verse reinforcin’ why you don’t bring it ’round here. This is some straight 90’s Smif N Wessun ish (Not a Toronto group lol)!
Since all heads were from the Toronto area. We figured why not get all hands on deck to share some insight on the track for ya’ll. Chop it up about some basketball since the Raptors are in the playoff hunt with some real possibilities, and just share a few down to earth recommendations about the city for you readers. SG : What part of Toronto are you from? Tell us a bit about it?
LJ : I’m from Malton. Basically where you land when you come to TO. Its not the prettiest neighborhood in Toronto… but its been good to me.
OM8 : Born in Toronto, lived in Scarborough. Not really much to tell ’bout it. Luv the city but it’s too expensive lol. Shxt mane I moved East of the city to save on livin’.
FO : The West End! But I started out in Parkdale! There’s good and bad like anywhere in the world, but one thing different from the rest of the world is we have cultures from around the world all tucked into one city. So u see the world without seeing the world if u get what I mean!

SG : Tell us about your crew who you run with?
OM8 : I’ve been reppin’ The Lost Info. The Lost Info started as a beat clik back in 2005 wit myself, Blanxx & Futurewave. But as time passed it more transitioned into a label, Blanxx and myself still release music under the name Lost Info Music. We have all been havin’ our own successes and I hope that continues going forward. The homie Blanxx just released a new gem on streaming platforms called Queijo Sao Jorge, the project slaps top to bottom.
LJ : My homies don’t rap (They) dudes i grew up with from school & what not. As per the Hip Hop shit, I’m solo dolo. But I fxck with the whole HighHeat camp, solid dudes.
FO : Well I run HighHeat records with J. Banks and DNTE, and we signed ourselves to the label which is the group FALCONCREST (Falcon Outlaw & DNTE)! We also do solo projects under the label, and we recently brought Therealskitso under the HighHeat umbrella. He’s a producer/rapper from Buffalo!

SG : What is you sound?
FO : My sound is the truth side of the street life. The good, bad & ugly!
LJ : My sound is MY sound. I don’t know how else to explain it. I’m sure it has influences from people I listen to, but i try my best to be me and tell my side of the story every time.
OM8 : I don’t think I have a specific sound but I’m sure others would disagree. I always try to stay mad versatile wit my music whether I’m creating a more modern style, or sum boom bap slap u in the face shxt. I think that if I was forced to narrow my whole shxt down to one word….. Dark.
SG : What does Bun Dem mean?
LJ : FXCK EM !!
FO : Destroy!
OM8 : That shit is simple…….. Fxck em!!!!
SG : How did this track come about with the people involved? Was it recorded together?
OM8 : Originally the homie Juco hit me ’bout the beat when he saw a clip on Instagram. From there we was throwin’ out names on features and either him, or myself, mentioned rockin’ wit the folk FalconCrest. The big homie Falcon Outlaw (Tex) been havin’ that West Indies twist to his rhymes so it was only right he bless the tune. Unfortunately we didn’t have the luxury of recordin’ together, but regardless the tune came out incredible. S/O all the man dem involved in makin’ this joint!!!
LJ : Unfortunately we didn’t get in the lab together but we’ve chopped it up. J. Banks of HighHeat (Records) quarterbacked the whole thing. I had the beat from Ol Man 80zz for a minute, and I spoke to Banks ‘n told him I needed that yardie talk on it. He sent back Falcon Outlaw’s verse and it was a wrap.
FO : Lord Juco reached out to J. Banks and the rest is history! Ol man on the beat. I recorded my part sent it to Juco then he did his part and sent it back. Got Smokeshop Studio to mix and master it!!

SG : What can we look forward to from you in the near future?
LJ : A lot. I don’t want to announce anything but a lot. “Lord Classy” just dropped tho’ so the people got something to hold them over ’til the next one.
FO : More singles. I got a joint on DNTE’s solo album called “Crystal Pianos” that we shootin’ a video for next month! I got 2 joints on Therealskitso’s album coming out end of summer/fall! The I got a solo album coming out fall/winter! But U will here a lot of singles in between all this!
OM8 : I got a few things lined up for 2019. I’m almost set to drop my own project titled, “Jarvis St” which features sum dope spitters in the game. I’m preppin’ to release a 7″ wit the West Coast spitter, Jay Worthy. We cooked up 2 heaters that will only be released exclusively on vinyl, stay tuned for that shit. I’ve got a joint project in the works wit my Piff brotha, John Creasy, titled, “Teflon John”. Our first single, “The Bull”, is available now on all streamin’ platforms. And………….. My brotha Justo The Mc and I have some special shit in the chamber, completed!!!!
SG : A night out with the homies, where do you go?
OM8 : Probably a lounge or some shit lol. IDK a place where I can blaze sum trees and cool out lol, I ain’t much of a drinker. I’ll do vodka & water once in a while tho.
LJ : Depends who I’m wit but its usually a steak house, wing spot, chinese etc., food-oriented. I don’t do the clubs.
FO : Club or casino, or we on the block.
SG : Who should we be checking for coming up in Toronto?
FO : FALCONCREST.
LJ : Coming up I’m not sure. But that’s out, Falcon Crest, Asun, Saipher Soze, Daniel Son, Thorobred, to name a few.
OM8 : The GTA is filled wit’ talented folk, eastside to westside. Lord Juco, FalconCrest, Dre Barrs, Philly Regs, 9th Uno, Citizen Kane, 360 sooooo many dope mcs & producers.
