Continuing with the designer interviews, it is very impressive to hear that they also have a social conscious! From one of our favorite collections, Ms. Jasmine Leung, fashion designer, states, “During these 4 years of study in BA fashion, I realized how damaging fashion and garment-making is to the world. We, as the new generation of fashion creators, need to take action to make a change. Designing a sustainable fashion collection and eventually establishing a sustainable fashion brand are my goals.”

Read Part 3, of inspirations, fashion designer favorites, and future plans! A heady mix of, ‘the simple life’, Zero Waste, love bonds, and America sports references.

FIRST LOOK 2 GALA SHOW : MAHKA SHOP SELECTS

MAHKA the active select shop in Sheung Wan presented a stylish, feminine grouping of the various brands they carry at present. Mixing perfectly with their own namesake brand were the lace dresses of BOAIME, and Cashew, and the accessories of La Fiancee du Facteur. BOAIME and Cashew are both Vietnamese brands with extensive dress collections, and it was nice to see them present a more delicate selection on the FIRST LOOK 2 runway. Colorful and light the women’s pieces were stunning on the models and clearly flattered the figure. The menswear pieces by Mahka exclusively also showed their label growth from t-shirts to a more cut and sew aesthetic and bold use of print. Pay attention as MAHKA continues to grow!

ESTEBAN CORTAZAR FW17 WOMENS

My gut tells me that me and Esteban collide one in a blue moon. Taste I mean. That blue moon has arrived this season. Besides hoping the first piece is not real fur, I dig the clash all over here. The piece in white is a surprise, a respite from the rest of the collection which is a goulash of patterns and fabrics. Enjoyable though with the whimsical cuttings to the sportswear an extra plus!

ANTONIO MARRAS FW17 WOMEN’S WEAR

Antonio Marras loves the clash. Patterns and prints clash, fabrics clash. It’s a volatile mix and sometimes it works and it doesn’t for me. This season he gets the thumbs up for it’s muted palette, mostly dark to monochrome, and the interesting way he blended sheers with more robust tailored fabrics and velvets. Nice one! FW17.

SPITGAN! GUCCI MENS SS17

I want to come to this tea party. If there ain’t drugs there I am gonna beat narcotics out your blood stream! I bet you it’s like tea sets of percocets…pills, pills, pills, whatever’s the new school is into these days. Weed is the afterthought here. Let’s just stick to the foolery that is the men’s, it’s already too much dress up. Where do you fellas hang? Do you beef with Cosplay kids? I wanna trip on your toadstools deep in your perscription forests, do boat cruises on your cough syrup lakes. Let’s beef over Twitter. You are somehow disrespecting Wes Anderson, Alessandro and I don’t like.
